The Value of a Full Diagnostic Hearing Test

At Dilworth Hearing we often get asked about the difference between a full diagnostic hearing test and a free hearing check, and so we wish to highlight the benefits of referring patients for full diagnostic hearing tests from the outset.

Hearing assessments are like any other diagnostic test you may recommend to assist in diagnosis and in formulating an appropriate management/treatment plan.

It is clinically substandard to make a diagnosis and recommendation based on a screening test alone. Without an accurate full diagnostic hearing test, hearing aids can be inappropriately fitted when simple strategies may suffice or the patient’s hearing loss may be temporary or better treated surgically or medically.

At Dilworth Hearing we value the importance of clinical excellence. We always recommend a full diagnostic hearing test as best practice. Getting it right the first time gives patients and their family doctors reliable and comprehensive information and it saves patients the need for return appointments after cursory screening tests.
