Maintenance information

Everyday:

  • When the hearing aid is not in use turn it off, remove the battery and leave the battery case open
  • Wipe the earmould and hearing aid with a dry tissue
  • Check earmould opening for wax, clean earmould if necessary
  • Check for dust/dirt etc, in the hearing aid case, switches, microphone screen, clean with a soft brush
  • Place the hearing aid with the battery case open in either
    • A closed container with a pack of silica gel.
    • A dry kit.
    • The hot water cupboard.

Every week:

  • Wash the earmould
  • To dry the earmould
  • Put it in the hot water cupboard overnight
  • Use a puffer

Once a month:

  • Clean the battery compartment with a soft brush
  • Replace the plastic tubing
  • Renew the earmould
  • Have your ear canals checked for wax

Hearing and ear care

  • If you suspect a change in your hearing ability, have a hearing evaluation immediately
  • If you experience a sudden hearing loss or a sudden further deterioration of your hearing seek medical assistance immediately, eg. ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist)
  • Any discharge, swelling or discomfort in your ear canal should be reported to your doctor immediately
  • Dermatitis is often caused by perspiration or dampness, see a doctor. Do not wear the earmould until the condition is completely clear
  • Don't use cotton buds:
    • They push the ear wax deeper into your ear canal
    • They may damage your eardrum

Every two years:

  • Have a hearing evaluation/test
  • Have the hearing aid checked
  • Have the earmould checked
